Terms & Conditions
1. General Overview
All prices, terms, and the availability of stallions are subject to change. The customer must confirm these with Stallions Direct (SD) immediately prior to ordering and payment. All orders placed are subject to the laws and jurisdiction of England and Wales. These Terms and Conditions do not supersede the consumers’ rights as per the Act of 2015.
2. Payment and VAT
Payment is required in full at the time of nomination. No semen will be dispatched prior to full and cleared payment, including health certificates and delivery charges. SD does not charge for debit or credit card, electronic transfer, or bank transfer payments. Payments made by cheque must be cleared before any semen can be dispatched. All fees are subject to VAT at 20% unless otherwise stated.
3. Semen Delivery and Import Fees
Shipping fees are per shipment and cover the cost of specialised transport and mandatory health documentation.

The customer is responsible for any additional fees issued by the courier (e.g., UPS) or the Border Control Post (BCP).
4. Shipping Liability and Risk
No Insurance: Your semen is NOT insured by Stallions Direct. We strongly recommend that you take out your own insurance for the value of the semen and the cost of the shipping.
Transfer of Risk: Liability and risk for the semen and any container it is transported in is the responsibility of the relevant stud prior to dispatch, the transport company whilst in transit, and the person or company to whom the semen is delivered from arrival.
Exclusions: SD specifically excludes liability for losses that were not foreseeable at the time of contract or losses caused by courier delays, misrouting, or damage due to temperature fluctuations (heat/cold).
Documentation: SD is not liable if a stud fails to include the original EU health certification. It is the responsibility of the attending vet or AI technician to ensure the correct papers are included upon arrival.
5. Delivery Times and Services
Time of delivery is the responsibility of the transport company. Although couriers endeavour to deliver in accordance with timed deliveries (pre-noon or pre-2pm where available), they do not guarantee a timed delivery. If a shipment arrives by 7pm on the scheduled day, the customer is not entitled to any compensation, and the full transport charge remains payable. UPS delivery is not available to all areas; restricted addresses will be sent via an alternative courier.
6. Stallion Availability and Substitutions
Semen may be unavailable at times without notice. SD suggests breeders have three choices of stallions. If the first choice is unavailable, SD will use reasonable endeavours to provide semen from a second or third choice of the same or lesser value. If no semen has been delivered, a refund may be issued.
7. Refund and Exchange Policy
SD provides no product exchange or money-back guarantee. Once payment has cleared, the order cannot be refunded or exchanged.
8. Breeding and Reproductive Terms
No Guarantee of Pregnancy: No guarantee of pregnancy is given by SD under any circumstances.
Advanced Techniques: Terms for embryo transfer, ICSI, or other advanced reproductive techniques may differ and are available on request. SD must be informed if these methods are used; a stud fee is usually payable for each pregnancy/embryo achieved.
Frozen Semen: Unused frozen semen remains the property of the stallion owner and must be returned by 1st October at the customer’s expense.
Quality Disputes: SD will use reasonable endeavours to resolve disputes relating to semen quality, but liability rests solely with the relevant stud.
9. Accuracy of Information
While SD uses reasonable endeavours to ensure all information (including WFFS status) is accurate, SD cannot accept liability for incorrect information. Customers are advised to verify accuracy themselves and discuss issues with their vet. SD is not responsible for actions taken by third parties referred to on the website.
10. Studbook and Performance Testing
SD does not take responsibility for clients who cannot obtain full breeding papers if a stallion has been licensed but has not completed a performance test or if a stallion is removed from a full studbook at any point.
